Whimsical Wildflower Birthday Card

Hello everyone… I hope you all have a great first week in 2017! We have been having colder days on this week, and also no school because of snow. I do not like the cold, but I love the snow and the beauty of the view here in our backyard during the winter snowy days…so calm and peaceful.

In these cold days, I got to spent a moment in my craft room and created a birthday card with my new stamp, word die and paper packs. Also, I use heat embossing resist with watercolor paint to create this card.

I use the new Whimsical Wildflowers Collection and Plum Pizzazz Paper Pad from Our Daily Bread Designs. The dies I use are ODBD Custom Ornate Ovals Dies. And the sentiment is one of the new ODBD script word dies, Happy Birthday.

I not only die cut the pieces, but I also embossed them with the same dies to give extra texture on each the die cut. Check it out the details on the Ornate oval die cuts below.

I stamped and heat embossed the flower from ODBD – Seeds of Today stamp set with Ranger Gold Embossing powder. Then I colored it with my Koi watercolor paint. I picked the purple that match the paper 🙂 I added more colors when the first layer dried for the depth of colors and shadows.

Also, I added some splatters with some gold paint and brush. And then I decided to give it some sparkle using Spectrum Noir Sparkle Clear Brush. And I finished it with adding some glitter dots using Gold Stickles.

I used Tombow permanent adhesive to add the paper and ornate ovals die cuts on the card. And I used my mini Xyron sticker maker to add adhesive to the Happy Birthday Script Word Die Cut.

This card is flat even though there are 2 layers of mats on it. So it is mail-friendly. That is all about my card today. I hope you are inspired to create today 🙂 Thanks a lot for visiting me and have a fabulous, blessed day!

  1. Helen, these are beautiful , original and well-crafted. Thanks so much for playing Simon Says Stamp Wednesday “New Something” Challenge! Beautiful colors and design. Well done! Your backyard is so serene and beautiful!

  2. Helen, your cards are always so gorgeous and exquisite; this one is no exception! The gold, purple, frames and papers…such a lovely combination. Speaking of lovely: the photo of your yard is exactly that! I’m not a fan of the cold, but living in the Rocky Mountains in Canada, it’s hard to avoid! Scarves, mittens, parkas and long johns…not stylish but oh so necessary! So thrilled to be on the HLS Dies Challenge team with you!
