May 2016 SOTMH Blog Hop: Celebrate With Cake

May is here and some of the May flowers are blooming everywhere. We love flowers and planning to plant more this year so we’ll have more blooms in the Summer 🙂

Welcome to the May Stamp Of The Month Blog Hop! Today I am joining a blog hop featuring May Stamp Of The Month: Celebrate With Cake. I am sharing couple cards using these new stamp set.

May2016

This month there are 33 participants on this blog hop. If you arrive from Maureen, you are on the right track 🙂 but if you are here first, you can continue hopping to the next blog to make the loop. Just in case you got lost, you can always go to HERE to see the full list of participants for this month blog hop.

In this May SOTM stamp set there are 17 stamps that you can use to build gorgeous cake to celebrate special events such as birthday, anniversary, wedding, or just a note to say how sweet they are to you. You can color the images using any mediums, like watercolor paints, watercolor pencils, markers, color pencils, or anything you use for coloring 🙂

And also, this month CTMH also release New Products and the idea book, Seasonal Expressions 2. So many new pretty stamps, papers and embellishments including lots of beautiful inspirations and projects shown in the new idea book.

From all new paper packets, I am in love with the Calypso paper packet. The colors and patterns beautiful. I made a card using the May SOTM and this paper:

Celebrate with Cake - Card 1

The first card above, on a piece of Watercolor Paper, I stamped the cake images with VersaMark™ Ink Pad, added some Ranger™ Princess Gold Embossing Powder and then heat set them using Craft Heater. Then I colored the images with Watercolor Paints using the smallest brush from the Paintbrush Set.

On another piece of Watercolor Paper, I stamped and heat embossed some roses. Then, I used Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors to cut those little roses and added them on the cake using some glue dots.

I used Gypsy Cardstock as the mat and stamped the sentiment with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad. The background paper is from one of the Calypso paper packet. Then I added the finished panel on the card base using adhesive runner.

Celebrate With Cake - Card 2

And for the second card, I created the background by stamping the candle stamp using Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad.

On a piece of White Daisy Cardstock, I stamp the cake and candle with Memento Black Ink pad. I colored the cake using ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Bronze MarkerShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Clay Marker and ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Barely Beige Marker. I started with the lightest color and worked on the shadow of layers and blended the 3 colors using the lightest one (Barely Beige). And for the candle, I colored it using ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Carmine MarkerShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Tender Pink MarkerShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Marigold Marker and ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Golden Yellow Marker. After that I cut them with my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors then added them with 3d foam tape on the paper doily that I had glued on the card.

I stamped the banner and sentiment on White Daisy Cardstock with Black Exclusive Inks™ Stamp Pad, fussy cut it with Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors. I also cut the other banner tail so I can tuck it under the cake. I used adhesive runner to add the banner. Then I finished my card with some clear sparkle gems.

  1. Such beautiful cards Helen 🙂 I like your idea of using the candle image for the background…love it! 🙂

  2. Your embossing and those little flowers on your first card are just beautiful. And I’m in love with the doily card with the chocolate cake – everthing I love! I just might be casing that one!

  3. Thank you so much for entering your creative and beautiful art in the Word Art Wednesday challenge.
