Growing In Unity Day 1: Silver Bells Clean-And-Simple Cards

Hello everyone… Welcome to my blog! Today I am one of the Growing In Unity Girls for this week. For the next 5 days, we will share with you projects featuring stamps from the Unity Stamp Company. And for the Growing in Unity Day 1, I have a set of clean-and-simple cards to share with you.

When it comes to making Christmas cards, I mass-produce one design and my to-go style is clean-and-simple 🙂 We always need lots of cards during this season… I have one design for my card but I have different background for variety. On these cards, I used the KOT Octoner 2016.

Growing In Unity Day 1: Silver Bells Clean-And-Simple Cards

I used A4 (4.25 in. X 5.5 in) white cards as my card base. First, I cut out a bunch white and black cardstock in 4.25” x 5.5”

Using my Mini MISTI, I stamped the ornament and sentiment at the same time with Versamark Ink Pad. Since this is a slow-drying ink pad, I stamped them 3 times, then I added the Silver Embossing Powder, and I heat set them with craft heater. After I heat-embossing all the panels, I added some silver watercolor paint splatters using watercolor fan brush on them and dried them with craft heater. And I decided to add more extra silver dots on the empty space with my Silver Uni Signo Ball Gel Pen.

I repeated the same steps. For one sitting, I could make 10-12 cards or more when I had extra time before my daughters coming home from school 🙂

After that, I trimmed some patterned paper strips. For this card, I cut out the papers into 5.5” x 1.25” and I added those patterned papers at the bottom of the card base.

I then trimmed the heat-embossed panels into 5.5” x 3.23”, and I added them on the card bases.

I have been a happy KOT subscriber for 2 years now… and I always love every set they sent every month. Not only that, there is a coupon code and there is always little suprise in the package, too! To learn more information about the Kit Of The Month, you can go here.

  1. Love these cards and love the song. The KOM was great. Afraid right now I can not get KOM but the cards are done so beautiful

  2. Nice card! I make 180 Christmas cards every year so doing the same thing (or close to it) is important! I also look for cards that don’t use a ton of tape (made that mistake one year with too many little pieces to attach), elegance, and different from what I have done in the past (for the last 18 years). This card would fit that criteria!!!

  3. Great cards Helen! I love both versions. Pretty plaid strip at the bottom and great stamps from the KOTM you used! Love that ornament!

  4. I like the “theme and variation” way you work for making many at one time. Clean and simple cards but classic! Thanks for all the info about what you used and how you did it. I learn a lot from you GIU girls!

  5. Thanks for showing the different looks by using black and white backgrounds. It’s obvious how the background creates a very different “feel” to the card.

  6. Beautiful plaid paper that looks fantastic with both the white and black card fronts. The silver embossed ornaments and silver splattering add lots of shine. Great design, Helen. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour!

  7. (I think I commented in the wrong place before.) I love the plaid on this card. Great to use the black background to make this image stand out.

  8. What a gorgeous card with those silver bells and saying, Helen
One of my favorite songs, heard it today on the radio and Michael Bublé was singing it.

  9. So many lovely images in this set! The artwork/lettering is so beautiful on these stamps that you totally made the right call in showcasing the images rather than colouring them! Jo x
