Overcoming Failure

I’ve been reading Renee Swope‘s book, A Confident Heart, for one of my Summer readings.

At the end of chapter 7, she shared about failing forward, failure and how we can overcome it. She wrote,

“When we disappint God and other people, it can automatically make us feel like a failure. This reinforces Satan’s lies and destroys our confidence. Fearing failure can distort our perspective and keep us focused on the fear of failing again. Instead, we need to ask God if there is something we need to di differently.”

What is failure? What are the causes of failure? Renee answers those quetions from the Truth:

“One of the main themes of the Bible is overcoming failure. Throughout Scriptures we see that failure is something caused by disobedience (Num.14:40-45), sin (Josh. 7:3-12), lack of faith (Matt. 17:15-21), not following God’s ways (2 Chron. 28:1-5), lack of counting the cost (Luke 14:28-29), unbelief (Heb. 4:6), and wrong motives (James 4:3).”

Isn’t that true? I know it’s true and happens to me. Satan always try to get to me through “making me feel like a failure” when I disapoint God or someone (especially my husband, daughter and parents). Satan knows well our weak spot in our life and he will use it over and over again to destry and draw us away from God and His love.

I would be so down and discouraged when that happened to me. But God is so good, so gracious and so faithful. He shows love, grace and mercy to me. He speaks to me through His words, patience husband and wise, spirit-filled mentor&friends I have. He makes sure I know well that He is there and guides me step by step to the victory in Jesus.

Overcoming failure is only by coming to Jesus, searching God’s will for your life and live it!
