September Card Chain Challenge: A Card For A Friend

Hello everyone… Today I have a card to share with you that I made for a swap friend from September Card Chain Challenge.

If you have not yet heard about Card Chain Challenge, it is a monthly online card swap between crafty friends who make beautiful cards and send it out. The CCC is a simple premise: sign up and mail the person above you a handmade card while receiving one from the person immediately below. Interested to join and play along? You still have time to sign up for October CCC here! It is closes on October 6!

This challenge is a fun challenge and way to share joy with crafty friends. They provide the options how you can create your card: Color Palette, Card Sketch, Theme, and Product/Technique. You can pick at least one of these options to use on your card. And choose the Color Palette and Theme – Friendship to use on my card.

I used the color palette to create my watercolor background using Distress Inks: Salty Ocean, Mustard Seed, and Picked Raspberry. I simply smooshed the ink on craft mat, sprayed with water and added a piece of watercolor paper. I added the color one by one to fill in the empty spot on the paper and dried it in between color adding. I then sprayed and flicked some water on it and dried it to create some more texture on it.

Then I die cut it with one of the Craftin Dessert Divas – Fancy Frame Dies, and I die cut it again with one of the Stitched Dots Edges Dies from A Jillian Vance Design. And I added it on the white card base with Tombow Mono Permanent Adhesive.

I die cut the butterfly base using CUTPlorations Flutter Zen 1 Layering Dies out of white heavy weight cardstock, and then I stamped the butterfly from STAMPlorations – Trendy Butterflies 2 Stamp Set using mini MISTI to position the butterfly perfectly on top of the die cut. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink pad for stamping.

For the sentiment, it is from STAMPlorations – Fond Expressions 2 that I stamped on the card using Peacock Feather Distress Ink Pad. Then I added the butterfly on the card, added some pearl gems, and then I stamped some images from the STAMPlorations – Mixed Media Grunge Stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink randomly on the card.

And this card is on the way to my friend in Mauritius.
