Wood-Burning with Stencil, Stamp and Hand-lettering

Wood-burning art is interesting and beautiful art work. It is like painting on a wood plank or slice but use wood-burning tool instead of paints. It require patient and time to work on one art. I first time tried wood-burning was when I made some projects for Christmas last year.

I made couple wood-slices ornaments for our tree, gifts and also for a friend’s request. And on the weekend, I worked on these bigger wood slices (approximately 8″ and 10″ tall). And if you have little kids, better work after they go to bed or when they are not around. The wood burning tool is VERY HOT!

First wood slice, I used the medium size I got from Target (YES, you read it correctly :D). I taped down the Feathers and Arrows LARGE – ARTplorations Stencil, and began tracing the arrows with pencil.

After removing the stencil, I traced the sketch with the hot wood-burning tool. Then I saw some empty spaces that I thought might need some things there. So I wrote the quote using pencil and traced them with the tool again. Woalah! Love it! 😀

On the second medium size of wood slice I got from Target, I stamped the big coffee cup from Hero Arts with StazOn ink pad then trace it with the wood burning tool. The word coffee was written with pencil, then traced it with the tool.

On the third wood slice, I  wrote the quote from Micah 6:8, one of the popular Bible quote that always remind us what the LORD command us to do to others in the community. First I drew some lines to make sure when I write it straight. It is a big slice, a bit intimidating 😀 This wood slice is from Walnut Hollow.

Then, I wrote the quote with pencil and then traced them with wood-burning tool. Then I erased the pencil lines.

On the second take, I stamped some big poppy flowers from Donna Downey (Unity Stamp Co.) with StazOn ink pad and then traced them. I doodled the stalks and leaves, then traced them with the tool.
