Travel Notebook Art Journal | Never Lose Hope

Hello everyone… Today, I would like to share an art journal page from my travel notebook. I also tried a new technique on my art journal page.

I used the Hope & Strength, a new release digital stamp set from Graciellie Design this week. These gorgeous dragonflies were hand-drawn by Gracie herself. I love all the inspiring and encouraging words from this digital stamp set. They are perfect for such time of this.

I colored the dragonflies on Procreate App, and saved it as png files. And then I printed them and the sentiments on regular printer paper with inkjet printer.

I started with adding paper tape in the middle of the page to cover the gap and then I covered the whole pages with white gesso using flat brush. After that, I dried the white gesso with craft heater.

I grabbed some of the used stained paper towel from my stash box that I saved after cleaning off inks or dabbing off watercolor from stencils in the past.

I tore some of the paper towels and added them on the pages with gel medium. I dried the gel medium with craft heater.

After ages dried, I applied more white gesso on the pages and dried it again.

Next, randomly I scribble some of the Distress Crayons on the pages. After that, I wet my finger with baby wipe and blended the colors.

I added some more colors on the page and sprayed with water and let the colors dripped down the pages. I dried it again with craft heater.

I sprayed some of the mixed media art spray on the page, dried it half way until it still a bit tacky-ish and damp.

I sprinkled some of the WOW! Blueberry Cheesecake Glitter embossing powder on each corner of the page and used coffee filter to catch the powder. I melt the embossing powder with craft heater. It is shiny, glittery and glossy!

I cut out the printed sentiments and added them on the page with gel medium. But I found out that the gel medium smeared the printed letters. I would suggest to use regular permanent glue instead gel medium.

I added some more splatters on the page with the mixed media art spray and the white spray that I mixed myself (white acrylic paint, water, white glue). I dried the whole page again with craft heater.

I added some shadow around the sentiments with Distress Crayon. Since the letters faded and smeared by the gel medium, I used Posca Fine Tip black marker to make them bold again.

I fussy cut the dragonflies with micro-tip scissors and I added them on the page with the permanent glue stick.

I added some shadow around the dragonflies with black watercolor pencil and waterbrush. I dried them with craft heater again.

I used Distress Crayon to add the shadow around the whole pages and I sprinkle some WOW! Metallic Silver Sparkles Glitter embossing powder randomly on the edges and heat set them with craft heater.

And I decided heat-embosse all the dragonflies’ eyes using the VersaMark pen and the same glitter silver embossing powder.

I used the Posca Fine Tip black marker to draw the trail dots on each of the dragonfly.

And the last step, I added some more splatters using the cocoa mixed media art spray. I dried the whole page again with craft heater.

Here’s a quick close up on the finished page:

That’s my travel notebook art journal to share with you all. I hope this encourage you today. Never lose hope.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Have wonderful, blessed day!

Growing In Unity Day 3 – Mixed Media Projects

Hello everyone… It is Day 3 of the Growing in Unity Girl post. Today, I have couple of mixed media projects to share with you all.

First mixed media project is a card. I use the Feather Soft Love stamp set and the Eloise Girl stamp set. It is a very simple mixed media card, with spray paints, embossing, and pigment inks.

I started with stamping the feathers with VersaMark ink pad on a watercolor paper, sprinkled some black glitter embossing powder, and then heat it up with craft heater.

I put the paper in a box and then start sprayed it with blue, teal, purple Marabu Mixed Media Spray Paints. I also sprayed some water to blend the colors. I dried it with craft heater. I trimmed it into 4.25″ x 5.5″ card. I added it on a white card with E-Z Runner Grand Adhesive.

On a white cardstock, I stamped the sentiment with Purple Delight pigment ink, dried it with craft heater, and then I cut it with one of the Circle Dies. I added the sentiment on the card with 3D foam tape and added some matching colors sequins.

This second project, is a mixed media art journal. On this page, I use Insightful Meadows stamp set and Wild & Free stamp set.

On the mixed media page, I added some white gesso with palette knife, and while it was still kindda wet, I stamped it with bubble wrap plastic. I dried it quickly with craft heater. The tricky part drying gesso with craft heater, if it gets too hot, it gets bubbly. So… try to move the craft heater around and keep it on distance so it won’t be too hot.

After the page was dry, I spread a thin layer of the yellow and red acrylic paint with brayer. I dried it again with craft heater (be careful, acrylic paints is the same with gesso). And then, I added some red cherry gelato and lemon gelato, then blended them with my finger. I also created that moon with coconut gelato that I scribbled the circle on the page and smoothed it with finger.

Next step, I stamped the flowers with Pinecone VersaFine Clair ink pad with first and second generation stamping technique. I covered the bottom page to create the flower border silhouette. And I dried the whole page with craft heater again to make sure the pigment ink dried well.

Helen G. Designs Stencils | New Release Blog Hop and Giveaway

Hello hello hello everyone… Today… I have a very exciting and happy news to share with you all…

My new line of stencils – Helen G. Designs – goes live today at STAMPlorations store today!!! YES… you read it correctly! I am designing stencils and Shery is offering me an a spot at her store. I am overwhelmed with joy and grateful. Here’s a little story about what drives me to start designing:

Designing has been something I’ve been dreaming of doing since I was at middle school when I started with dress sketches. I never thought that this designing dream would come through now. This idea of designing stencils was started with my love for mixed media projects when I joined STAMPlorations team. I love using stencils to create some backgrounds for my projects so I started to make my own. I sketched some shapes on my table using one of the sketch apps, and then I turned them into some stencils that I cut with my electronic cutting machine. I am still at learning stage of designing but I love doing it! I hope that through this opportunity, I can keep learning, growing, and continue designing more.

All of my designs are inspired by drawings that you can do with pencil or makers on projects. The sky is the limit to use these 6 stencils and with them creating backgrounds will be easier!!!

Hope you will like them and enjoy to create with them. Thank you so much for your supports and love. I cannot wait to see your projects!”

To celebrate this new release, STAMPlorations Girls have created projects with the stencils for the new release blog hop. I also have some projects to share with you all…

First project is this art journal. I used the Make Marks 1 ARTplorations Stencil, Make Marks 6 ARTplorations Stencil, Happy Flowers ARTplorations Stencil, Say It Big Bloom Stamp Set, Art Marks Stamp Set, and Mixed Media Elements Stamp Set.

In the video, all of those prints are printed with all of my 6 stencils, gelli plate, and acrylic paints. I used some of them on these 2 cards and others saved for future projects.

On this card, I use Make Marks 2 ARTplorations Stencil, Make Marks 5 ARTplorations Stencil, For The Birds Stamp Set, and For The Birds CUTplorations Dies.

And on this card, I used the Make Marks 2 ARTplorations Stencil, Make Marks 4 ARTplorations Stencil, Make Marks 5 ARTplorations Stencil, Make Marks 6 ARTplorations Stencil, and Healing Herbs Stamp Set.

On this card, I use the Make Marks 3 ARTplorations Stencil and Blossom Overture Stamp Set.

Technique I used to create the background is called monoprinting with stencil or other will call it stamping with stencil using watercolor paint. After the background dried, I stenciled the x on top of it with Archival black ink and blending brush.
