It will be my fifth season to do this challenge with HelloMornings and I only can say that God has been using it and the group of ladies in Twitter group (first 2 challenges) and Facebook Group (the last 2 challenges) to speak to me personally, bless me, strengthen me, and the study help me to know my God and to love Him deeper! I was a night owl, but now I am turning into early riser. I have more time to read God’s word and speak to Him in prayer. I have time to plan my day. And I am planning to get moving more this challenge.
I am so excited to start this challenge again with the ladies God has brought to our Facebook Group this season! Will I see you there too?
Am I A True Follower?
I came to know Christ in 2001 when I was on my last day at collage before I took a year and a half off because my parents couldn’t afford to pay my school tuition anymore. It was hard days after that. Though this time I went through those hard days with Jesus. I am thankful.
I read the Bible every day, dug into deeper searching for what God really wanted to teach me. I follow Him since the very first day of I confessed my sins and pasts to Him, asked Him to forgive me and help me to live the new life He gave me in Christ.
I am a follower of Christ….
But what does it mean? What are the characteristics of a follower of Christ? And yesterday, I read this beautiful post from Roy Lessin at Meet Me In The Meadow.
He shared some verses that describe those characteristics of Jesus’ follower:
A follower of the Lord is led to do the right thing.
“Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the Lord.” Isaiah 51:1 NKJVA follower of the Lord is motivated to do good.
Those also who render evil for good, They are my adversaries, because I follow what is good.Psalm 38:20 NKJVA follower of the Lord makes Him known.
Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19 NKJVA follower of the Lord counts the cost.
Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” Matthew 8:19-22 NKJVA follower of the Lord shoulders a cross.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 16:24-25 NKJVA follower of the Lord gives all (because the greatest Treasure has been found).
So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” Luke 18:22 NKJVA follower of the Lord enjoys the Lord’s presence and favor.
If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. John 12:26 NKJVA follower of the Lord has a single focus.
Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.” John 21:20-22 NKJVA follower of the Lord knows His Master’s voice.
And when He brings out his own sheep, He goes before them; and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:4-5, 27 NKJVA follower of the Lord identifies with his Master’s suffering.
But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps. 1 Peter 2:20-21 NKJVA follower of the Lord places his feet in his Master’s footsteps.
These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. Revelation 14:4 NKJV
Reading all these truth, I ask myself again… am I a true follower of Christ? I am so thankful to know these truth! On these verses I build my life to live a life of a true follower. I pray God will help me to love him and to obey him. I pray God will help me to hear His voice clearly.
