I am reading Isaiah 40-41 today. And yes, these are 2 long chapters that reveal so much who God is to His chosen people, Israel, and through these chapters, God is revealing Himself to me, too.
In chapter 40 God comfort His people in their hard time and reminding that He is eternal, unlike grass or His other creations.
“The grass withers and the flowers fade beneath the breath of the LORD. And so it is with people. The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:7-8 NLT)
They were in the time of oppression and felt God had left them behind and forsaken them because they had sinned to Him. They did sin againts Him and God did disciplin them because He loved them so much and He still love the people of Israel.
He loves you and I, too. He cares for His own children, those who trust in Him.
“Yes, the Sovereign LORD is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.” (Isaiah 40:10-11 NLT)
He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will show us His grace and love when He rebuke us, not to destroy us but to lead us to the way of truth. He cares for us.
Our journey with Him is a long journey. And yes, we’ll get tired and weak in this journey. Our faith might be weaken by the difficult situations we are in. Our feet will get tired walking the path that we cannot see clearly yet we walk through it because of faith. But this is His promise when we walk with Him and in obedience to His calling:
“Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars?
He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name.
Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.
O Jacob, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
Have you never heard? Have you never understood?
The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.”
(Isaiah 40:26-31 NLT)
Knowing this truth that Him be with us and He’ll strengthen us give me peace to continue walk in faith and obeying His calling.
“I have called you back from the ends of the earth, saying, ‘You are my servant.’ For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:9-10 NLT)
God is the one who calls us from our old lives into new lives. God is the one who leads us to the path of the journeh He has for us. God is the one who has plans for us. He includes us in His own plan!
Isn’t that amazing?
But yes, this journey to obey His calling in our lives won’t be as easy as we say or read it.
But He will not leave us walking alone. He who choses and calls us will walk with us, be with us, strengthen us and help us. He will hold us in his victorious right hand!
Knowing all of these truth today from reading these two chapters, I have peace and He is my strength.
Thankful for the truth He reveals to us when we read the Bible. Thankful we can hear His voice when we read His word in the Bible. Thankful we can know Him through His word we read.
Thankful He is our God!
