Joy Clair Anniversary Blog Hop – Barn Party

Joy Clair Stamps

Hello everyone. Today we are celebrating someone’s birthday… It’s Joy Clair 4th Birthday!!! Come and join the birthday party with us and there are prizes to win too…

For this Joy Clair, I made this Barn Party step card for this special birthday…

On my card today I am using one of the new released stamp sets called Barn Party. This stamp set is packed with adorable farm animal, big barn, and fun sentiments. It is one of my favorite sets from this month release.

First, I cut the shapes of these stamp set using their SVG digital dies that comes with the set. I open the digital dies with Silhouette Studio Software and then cut them with my Silhouette Cameo.

I use the negative cut for stamping. I put it on my MISTI stamping tool, and then adding each shape inside the negative cut, add stamp them using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink Pad.. It is so easy to stamp multiple times with this tool!

After stamping all the images, I colored them with Leisure Arts Watercolor Pencils and small waterbrush.

For the card base, I cut a heavyweight white cardstock using ODBD Side Step Card Die using my Gemini Junior machine. And then, I added couple cloud on the card using make up sponge, Tumble Glass Distress Ink Pad, and cloud masks that come with the Cloud ARTplorations Stencil.

Next step, I added each colored piece of the Barn Party on the step card using Art Glitter Dries Clear Adhesive Glue.

And for the sentiment, I stamped it on a white cardstock with VersaFine Onyx Black and trimmed it into sentiment strip. For the piece to rise it up on the back of the card, I stamped the Wood Background Stamp on a piece of cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink Pad using second generation stamping technique to get the softer look. I trimmed it and added the sentiment strip on it. I punched couple circles using WRMK Crop-A-Dile Eyelet and Snap Punch tool and added them on it as the nails on the wood.

Then I added some grass under the sentiment wood sign that I cut out of green cardstocks using ODBD grass die sets.

Card is done  and now… It’s time to party…

Project Thursday ~ Mixed Media Artist Trading Cards

Precious Remembrance Shop

Hello everyone one… Helen is here. It’s Project Thursday time… And today’s project is a set of mixed media Artis Trading Cards that I created using stamp set, bits and pieces, paper snippets, buttons, and VersaFine Clair Ink Pads.

I am sharing a tutorial on these project on Precious Remembrance Shop Blog, too. On these artist trading cards, I used the Little Thing Stamp Set and the Coffee Love Stamp Set.

I stamped the triangles from the Little Things Stamp Set on tissue paper using VersaFine Clair Nocturne (Black) Ink Pad. This is a pigment ink, so it will take time to dry. I set it aside to dry while I was working on the cards.

I used watercolor paper 140 lbs for the artist trading cards. To create the background, I use the ink smooshing technique with VersaFine Clair ink pads and Staz-On All-Purpose Stamp Cleaner Spray. Since these ink pads are oil-based inks, water won’t work with them. But the stamp cleaner works like magic!

The Ink Pads I used on these card backgrounds are:

First, I dab a little bit of the ink on a craft mat, then I spray it with the Staz-On All-Purpose Stamp Cleaner Spray. I smooshed the watercolor paper in the ink. I did one color a the time and then dried them with craft heater tool.

I added thin layer of my homemade texture paste using palette knife on each card. This way give some texture on them and muted the colors a little bit.

After the texture paste dried, I added the pieces of stamped tissue papers on them using gel medium.

Once these cards dried, I added each of them on purple cardstock mat, green cardstock mat, and orange cardstock mat. After that I hand-stitched couple of the edges with white embroidery thread. And I added them again the last 3.5″ x 2.5″ card mats with strong adhesive glue. Lots of layers… I know!!!

Next step, I stamped the cup from Coffee Love Stamp Set with VersaFine Clair – ParadiseVersaFine Clair – Green Oasis, and VersaFine Clair – Summertime. I fussy each of the cup with micro-tip scissors.

On this first artist trading card, I added the blue cup. I added the XOXO word from Bits & Pieces : Love Coupon. I secured it on the cup with mini stapler. I added the cup on the card with strong adhesive glue. I added the sentiment from Little Things Stamp Set that I stamped using VersaFine Clair – Nocturne (black) on a white cardstock, trimmed it into paper strip, and doodled the framed around it with Faber-Castel PITT Artist Pen. I embellished this card with some of the Sweet Lavender Buttons.

On the second and third artist trading cards, I did the same steps that I used to create the first card above.

I also used one of the sentiments from Little Things Stamp Set that I stamped using VersaFine Clair – Nocturne (black) and one of the card from the Paper Snippets : TODAY. I embellished it with some of the Baby Blue Buttons.

And on this third artist trading card, I used one of the cute little cassettes from Bits & Pieces : Daily Thoughts to embellish the cup and the sentiment is from Little Things Stamp Set that I stamped using VersaFine Clair – Nocturne (black). I trimmed the sentiment paper and added on the cassette with adhesive glue. I embellished it with some of the Light Mint Buttons.

For finishing touch, I added some of white gesso on the edges of all the artist trading cards with my finger for extra distress look on them.

Thank you so much for stopping by today… Have a wonderful day!

A Mixed Media Card ~ Hello Sweet Friend

Hello everyone… Happy Saturday! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Today, I would love to share with you all a mixed media card, Hello Sweet Friend 🙂

In this April, I have been learning more mixed media technique for cardmakers at Stamp Nation Forum called Sleep, Create – Mixed Media for Card Makers Class. On my card today I used some of the techniques.

I started with creating my background. I will be working with some mediums and I like to work with 140 lbs watercolor paper, I have some of them that already cut into 4 1/2″ x 6″ that ready to use. I added some Gelatos on it and blended the colors with baby wipes. I dried it with craft heater.

Next step is to create the collage of tissue papers. I found some of tissue papers from my scrap box. Some of them are Tim Holtz tissue papers and some of them are stamped tissue papers that I had left over from previous project. I added some gel medium on the panel, and added the tissue papers. As I added the tissue paper, I wrinkled them with my finger, and then I added more gel medium all over them to seal them in place.

This next step is getting my finger inky and sticky… 😀 So… I added some teal acrylic paint randomly on it. Next, I added some white gesso randomly on the panel. And then I sprayed the green ink spray on the panel and I ended up with the circular patterns. I dried the spray paint with craft heater but they still kindda sticky when I touch it… so I grab my gold foil and then added it on the card and… VOILA! I got some gold foil on the panel mixed with the spray paint. I told myself, “OH this is so cool!”

Next layer is the bubble wrap pattern. I grab the bubble wrap plastic, tapped in on the VersaFine Clair Warm Breeze Ink Pad, and then I stamped it on the card on both corners. This ink pads is my new favorite, bright and vibrant colors plus juicy! I dried the whole panel one more time with craft heater.

I have some monoprinted papers that I did with Gelli Plate and acrylic paints. I use one of the paper to create the flower. I doodled on the monoprinted paper with black paint marker fine point. I ended up with 3 clusters of small roses, 3 clusters of big roses with leaves, and 3 other single doodled flowers from 1 paper. I trimmed them with micro-tip scissors. I used one of the clusters of roses with leaves on this card.

For the sentiment, I wrote the phrase “Hello sweet friend” on a white cardstock using Faber-Castell Brush black brush pen. I trimmed the cardstock into a sentiment banner.

I added the doodled flower on the card with dries-clear adhesive and I added the sentiment banner with 3D foam tape. And this card is done 🙂

I totally enjoyed every step in the process of making this mixed media card for a sweet friend. I will more for sure! I hope you all also enjoy this card today and be inspired to step out of your “comfort zone” to try something new.

Thank you for stopping by and have a fabulous and beautiful day!
