My youngest daughter kept asking us to get a night light for their bedroom since we took down the Christmas light we put at their bedroom during the Holiday season. Both girls love the light.

Couple of months ago, my husband got a real good deal on Micro LED String Light and I had been looking for a simple way of using it as their night light. I put in a jar but it did work as expected. It was beautiful but the little one wanted another jar beside her bed. So, I looked other idea.

I saw lots of string art ideas on Pinterest and inspired by those cute string arts, this might work using the wire string light. So, I pulled on of the Wood Planks I had in stash and work on it.

For this project, you will need only 5 things:

  • Micro LED String Light (the wire one)
  • Wood Plank (I used Jillibean Soup that I found at Walmart)
  • Nails (16 x 3/4″)
  • Hammer (little on works well for me)
  • Template (I cut out heart shape out of a scrapbook paper)

To make it very easy… just be careful with the hammering. I hit my fingers LOTS of times! LOL! 😀 I added old t-shirt under the wood (or old rug or towel will work, too) to reduce the noise when I was hammering the nails.

First, cut out a heart template out of 12×12 scrapbook paper. I folded it in half and started to cut the shape of half of the heart. Then lay down the template in the center of the wood plank and start adding those nails. I put the nail all around the template so it would be easy to remove it. Remove the template when all nails are in place. Below is how it look when you remove the template.

Second step is start to wrap the string light all around the nail. I missed couple nails because the wire was not long enough as I thought. But if I would do this again, I would use less nail and more space in between them so that the wire will evenly wrap.

And… Ta-Da… It is done! Check it out when it lights on… BEAUTIFUL! I only spent less than an half hour to do this. This is a quick project if you want to have a unique home decor 🙂

It is hang on the wall in the center where both the girls can see it 🙂 It blesses me when I see the smiles on their faces.

Hopefully you find an inspiration to create today! THANK YOU for visiting and Have a fantastic day!
