Hibiscus Batik Birthday Card

My friend asked me to make a card that has some taste of Indonesia and sentiment in Indonesian.

When I heard about something Indonesia, batik was the first thing came into my mind. I found these video tutorials how to create batik look cards:

Here’s a batik card I made using iron-off embossing a.k.a. faux no-line watercoloring:

I used the Hawaiian Hibiscus stamp set (CTMH). To created the Batik background, I heat-embossed the flowers on the white cardstock with VersaMark™ Ink PadRanger™ Clear Super Fine Embossing Powder and Craft Heater.

Then I colored them with CTMH Exclusive Inks Stamp Pads: Honey, Sunset, Cranberry and Crystal Blue. I pushed the lid onto the pad before I opened so some ink would be on the lid that I picked the inks with aqua paint brush.

Then I used my iron to lift off the embossing off those flowers. The ironing helps to dry the watercolor and flaten the cardstock, too 🙂 When I was done ironing, I added some sparkle on the flowers with Wink Of Stella Clear Glutter Brush.

A Batik Birthday Card

For the sentiment, I used the Jennifer’s Hand Alpha Stamp set (CTMH). I stamped & heat-embossed the word “Selamat” on black cardstock with Ranger™ White Super Fine Embossing Powder.

I cut the tail of the cardstock to make a banner and added on the card with 3D foam tape. Then I wrote the phrase “ulang tahun” with Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen. It writes smoothly on watercolored paper and dries permanently.

I finished the card with some gems from Hampton Art. And the card is now on it’s way to Indonesia 🙂

Thank You for visiting today and have blessed day!
