Happy Ombre & A Challenge

I saw lots of Ombre inspirations from amazing card makers from using ombre ink pads. I am inspired to try but using individual dye ink pads.

According to Merriam – Webster dictionary, ombre is having colors or tones that shade into each other — used especially of fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark.

On this card I made for my friend, I stamped the ombre colored sentiment on a piece of White Daisy cardstock. The sentiment from Happy Everything Stamp Set (special Operation Smile stamp set) using Pasifica and Lagoon Exclusive Inks Stamp Pads.

On the card based, I stamped the Brushstrokes stamp using Whisper Exclusive Inks stamp pad repeatedly.

I colored the Rosey Posey die cut using CTMH alcohol markers (retired). The Rosey Posey cutting file is from The Cut Shoppe and I cut it using my Silhouette Cameo. When it dried, I added on the card using Tombow Mono liquid glue. Then added the sentiment Happy Everything on top of the flower, the lastone is the embossed sentiment banner wrapped with baker’s twine using 3D foam tape.

The is sent to my spcrafting friend Loly for April Card Chain Challenge. This card challenge is a monthly challenge hosted by Deborah Nolan. If you want to play along with us, you still have time to sign up for May Card Chain Challenge. If you are new to this challenge, you can click here to read the details on this Card Chain Challenge.

Welcoming May With Flowers & A Challenge

The first time I heard this quote “April Shower Brings May Flowers” was from my husband when I experienced Spring for the first time in 2009. I did not quite understand at the first time, but after rainy days, I then understood. And also it from one of the stories about a boar named May Flowers.

In th last couple of weeks my daughter who is at Kindergarten told me about how she learned planting flowers at school and told me about the quote she learned. 2 weeks ago she kept asking her Papa to take her to store to buy Sun flower seeds so she can have a Sun flower garden this year, so they did. the planted at least 3 kinds of Sun flowers.

Sun flowers is low maintenance plant. And we hope to see the flowers and enjoy them when we come back from our Summer Mission Trip.

Mom, You Are Special

Mother’s Day is getting closer. I am missing my mom more and more. She lives in a different country but I am so thankful for the technology, we can always Skype with her. I always hope one day we can celebrate this special day with her.

In this special week, I am working on cards for special moms I know 🙂 Today I would love to share with one of the cards I have been making:

I cut 4.25″ x 11″ Kraft Cardstock and scored in the middle to make the card base.

First, I heat embossed the flowers from Flowers For Mom stamp set. Before stamping the flower using VersaMark watermark ink pad, I rubbed the card with anti-static power all over the card so the embossing powder won’t stick everywhere, then stamped the flowers, added the Ranger Super Fine White Embossing Powder, and heat set it using Craft Heater.

Second step is stamping the sentiment. Using Black Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad, I stamped the sentiment from Flowers For Mom stamp set on the card base.

Next is adding the Chevron Ruby ribbon on the card (retired) using Tombow Mono Liquid Glue. It dries clear and quick.

On a piece of White Daisy Cardstock, I stamped the flowers and leaves from Have A Happy Day stamp set using Canary Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad (flowers) and Pear Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad (leaves). Then using my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors, I cut them one by one and added them on the card using Tombow glue and 3D foam tape.

And then I stamped the saying from Flowers For Mom stamp set on the piece of White Daisy cardstock with Cotton Candy Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad, then I cut the dove tail using my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors and added it on top of the ribbon using 3D foam tape. Then I finished the card with some Sparkles Clear AssortmentSequins Gold Assortments and couple of the pink glitter butterflies from Junebug Puffies (these cute puffies are still at While Supplies Last section, all items in this section is only available until they are all gone).

I was quite nervous but I took the challenge from Virginia’s View Challenge #14 – adding layers and dimensions to the project. Like the result 😀

Other Supplies:

My Acrylix Blocks: 1″ x 1″, 1″ x 3 1/2″, 2″ x 2″, 2″ x 3 1/2″

Friends, Coffee and Donut

Friends, coffee and donut are 3 happy words for me. What an abundant life when it is surrounded by friends who care and encourage each other. I am blessed with those kind of friends.

Coffee… oh I love good dark roasted coffee 😀 My husband actually introduced that to me since we got married. I was not a coffee drinker, but coffee he got have been so good! I feel in love with good coffee, strong coffee. Saturday mornings are our special time, drinking coffee together.

This card I made using Treats of Friendship stamp set, the new set on newest CTMH Seasonal Expressions 2. Cute cute cute set for coffee and donut lover 🙂

I cut White Daisy cardstock for 2 card based, standard size 4.25″ x 5.5″ using Fiskar Paper Trimmer, then score them in the middle.

For the background paper strips, I used is Sarita paper packet, this pretty paper is retired, I love the ikat pattern for sure. I stamped the coffee cup with Black Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad several times on a piece of White Daisy cardstock. And I fussy cut 2 cups, a lid and the band using Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors. I was thinking to give some texture and I cut a piece of Sarita fabric (retired) and glued it using Liquid Glass on the stamped cup in White Daisy cardstock. I colored the coffee bean with CTMH Watercolor Pencil and wet it using aqua brush to give watercolor effect. Since it is a cardstock, need to be very careful with the flow of the water, do not want to be too wet.

The sentiment and hearts are from  new stamp set, Finding The Words. I stamped them using Lagoon, Cotton Candy, Honey and Gypsy Exclusive Inks Stamp Pads. I finished my card with some sequins from the new Oceanside Sequins and Sparkle Clear Assortment.

How about some donut, my friends?

From the same stamp set, Treats of Friendship, I stamped the donut on a piece of Chocolate cardstock with Black Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad and fussy cut it using my Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors. And then stamped the donut again on a piece of White Daisy Cardstock with Honey Exclusive Inks Stamp Pad, fussy cut using Non-stick Micro-tip Scissors and colored the sprinkles using CTMH Watercolor Pencil. Using adhesive runner, glued the sprinkle on top of the chocolate donut and add them on the tag.

I love these Confetti Wishes paper packet. They have fun patterns. I cut a strip of diagonal pattern paper and attached it on the card using adhesive runner. Then I cut the tag out of polkadots pattern, cut some the Silver Shimmer Trim and secure them on the tag using this awesome Mini Stapler.

For the sentiment, I stamped it first using Honey Exclusive Ink Pad and then over-lapped with the Black Exclusive Ink Pad.

I finished my card with Silver-White baker’s twine.

My favorite donut is Crispie Creme but unfortunately, we do not have any of their shops close by. We have to drive at least 1,5 hour to get Crispie Creme! My second favorite is Amish donut. A giant, sugar glaze donut what it is. Once on a while we will go to our favorite Amish bakery on Saturday, not so often because it takes 50 minutes drive to get there…

Yah, now you can imagine where we live, way way from a big city 😀 We live in a country, a lovely little town.

Thank You for visiting today and I hope you can enjoy them as much as I do 😀

I even have lots of left over of the fabric and some gems. I made earrings out of the left over. Here are the list of supplies to make these projects:

They are simple and easy to make, but these gifts are special because they are made out of love and from your hearts.

So, do you like to make gifts? If yes, what kind of gifts do you like to make for your loved ones?
