Exotic Flower Mini Wall Decor

We are packing now for our 2 months mission trip to Southeast Asia, to a tropical country where we will meet lots of people, working on some projects with the local missionaris and hoping to enjoy the special creations of God. In one of the small towns we will be visiting, they have lots of exotic flowers!

Today, I would love to share with you a project I made on request of my sweet friend ๐Ÿ™‚ She asked me to make her a mini wall decor for her home.

First, prepare a piece of watercolor paper. Cut in square 4 x 4 inch. Use a sturdy flat base to keep the paper flat. Use Blue Painter Tape to keep the paper in place when you work.

Then stamp the Exotic Flower Hostess Reward Stamp using VersaMark ink pad, add Ranger White Fine embossing powder, heat set using Craft Heater.

Using Aqua brush, watercolor using Exclusive Inks Stamp Pads: Lagoon, Juniper and Pear.

Fussy cut and use 3D foam tape for each layer.

For the base I cut 1 piece of Black cardstock and 2 pieces of White cardstock for sturdiness. Finish it with a Silver Glitter Gem.

All done ๐Ÿ™‚ I would suggest to use the Scotch wall picture that has double sided adhesive to put it on the wall.

I am thinking to make one for me when we come back from the trip ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for visiting today!

Watercolored Exotic Flower

I have been having fun making with with embossing and watercoloring lately ๐Ÿ™‚ They give something more to your handmade card.

This card, I add the watercolor directly to the embossed watercolor paper instead of adding the ink on the craft paper first, then card like I did with this “Batik” background card.

First I add the lightest color starting the outer card, then second color, then third color. My plan was rainbow color, but my card was too small for it ๐Ÿ™‚ The size of my card is 3.5″ x 3.5″

Adding the color directly to the card give me more control of how I want to gradient of the color to go, like here I kindda make like circles inward. Hopefully that makes sense. Or if you like you can make look like diagonal, or horizontal, or vertical. Up to you ๐Ÿ™‚

Once it dries completely, add the watercolor background paper on a piece of darker cardstock mat. I used a lot of adhesive at the back to make sure it stick good and also help to straighten the watercolor on the card.

On a piece of velum I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, and then added to the watercolor background. Final step is to add all of them on the card. Again, I covered the whole background of the front panel, just to make sure it stick good ๐Ÿ™‚

I love this stamp background! It is very pretty for background stamping from one of the Hostess Reward Stamp sets from Seasonal Expressions Book 2 (April – August 2015). And the sentiment is one of the Thank You set from Seasonal Expressions Book 1 (Dec 2014 – March 2015). Hostess Reward stamp sets are  only can be bought using your Hostess Rewards. How to earn Hostess Reward? Simply host a home gathering party or an online gathering party with me.

Thank You, You’re Fabulous

Today I would love to share with you a fun techniques creating a unique note cards using your own handwriting. This is a heat-embossing resist technique with dye ink pads and some water.

To create the watercolor effect using dye ink pads, first step is to squezze the lid againts the ink pad before you open it. This is how to get the ink on the lid. Then, lightly spray with some water.

On a piece of watercolor paper, add some powder tool, and then write the sentimen using VersaMarker. Add some Clear embossing powder and heat set it using Craft Heater.

Pick the ink from the ink pad lid that you have sprayed with water using pain brush. And trace the embossed handwriting sentiment with the colors. Wash the brush in a bowl of clean water every time you want to change color.

If you see a pool of inks around the letters that you do not like, you can pick it up using dry clean brush or paper towel. Just dab it on the extra inks, do not wipe or scrub.

Then, set aside to dry naturally or you can speedy it up using Craft Heater. I let it side aside while I prepare the card base. It did not take a long time like I did the watercolor background.

For the card base, I cut White Daisy cardstock to make 4.25 x 4.25 card. Then I cut the Hopscotch paper the same size and add it on the front panel of the card base using glue runner.

Next layer is the paper doilies. I stack them to make layers under the watercolor paper. I cut 2 paper dolies in half and arrange them under the where the watercolor paper will go and when they are in good position, then glue them using liquid glue or glue runner.

Then I add the watercolor paper that already dry (or if not yet dry, you can use craft heater to make sure it dries completely). Add the sentiment on top of the doilies using strong glue runner or wrinkle-free liquid glue (Tombow Mono Liquid Glue is the best!).

On a piece of White Daisy cardstock I stamped the extra sentiments from You’re The Bomb stamp set with Slate and Sunset Ink Pads. I trimmed the circle and added it on the card using 3D foam tape.

Here are the full list of supplies I used for this note card:

  • Stamp: Operation Smile stamp – You’re The Bomb (CTMH, available only until 3/31/14)
  • Paper: Hopscotch Paper Packet (CTMH, available only until 3/31/14)

Preparation for Easter Holy Week

Easter is one of the most important holidays we celebrate. This is the season to remember what the Lord has done for us, to redeem us and to purchase us with His blood to be His forever. The season where we are reminded that death is defeated! Our Lord is alive. He is the Living God we adore, worship and serve.

Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross makes a way for sinners (you and I) to come to the Father and be forgiven. The way He prepares for each of us to go back to the grace of God who has been waiting for so long to have the relationship with us. This is purely God’s action, solution and intention. Weย are offered the way of life through believing in His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

Would you take it? Would you response to that calling? Would you answer the door He has been knocking for a while? Would you let Him restore and renew your life?

The greatest love ever shown and known in the whole history of human kind is the act of love of Jesus on the cross. He died for you and me, for the world. His love for us is unconditional, unmeasured, and forever. We are called to the same thing.ย For this kind of love, we rejoice, have peace and will drive us to show the same love to others.

We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us.

So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.

(1 John 3:6)

God would do anything to save everyone. He is waiting patiently for each of us. Time is a great gift for us. But no one knows when the end of this grace time will come. This is the time to make decision.

The Lord isnโ€™t really being slow about his promise, as some people think.

No, he is being patient for your sake.

He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

(2 Peter 3:9)

God gives lots of things for us to use to prepareย our hearts for Easter, the Bible, devotions, Bible studies, and sermons every week we can listen from our Pastors. All these accesses are for us to come to know Him, to love Him and to obey Him so that we can be His witnesses to the world who He is, so that they may come to know Him and trust in Him through Jesus Christ.

And for me, making Easter cards is one of the way I feel God put in my heart to share His love and words with others. Here are the first set I did.
