Exotic Flower Mini Wall Decor

We are packing now for our 2 months mission trip to Southeast Asia, to a tropical country where we will meet lots of people, working on some projects with the local missionaris and hoping to enjoy the special creations of God. In one of the small towns we will be visiting, they have lots of exotic flowers!

Today, I would love to share with you a project I made on request of my sweet friend πŸ™‚ She asked me to make her a mini wall decor for her home.

First, prepare a piece of watercolor paper. Cut in square 4 x 4 inch. Use a sturdy flat base to keep the paper flat. Use Blue Painter Tape to keep the paper in place when you work.

Then stamp the Exotic Flower Hostess Reward Stamp using VersaMark ink pad, add Ranger White Fine embossing powder, heat set using Craft Heater.

Using Aqua brush, watercolor using Exclusive Inks Stamp Pads: Lagoon, Juniper and Pear.

Fussy cut and use 3D foam tape for each layer.

For the base I cut 1 piece of Black cardstock and 2 pieces of White cardstock for sturdiness. Finish it with a Silver Glitter Gem.

All done πŸ™‚ I would suggest to use the Scotch wall picture that has double sided adhesive to put it on the wall.

I am thinking to make one for me when we come back from the trip πŸ™‚

Thanks for visiting today!

Watercolored Exotic Flower

I have been having fun making with with embossing and watercoloring lately πŸ™‚ They give something more to your handmade card.

This card, I add the watercolor directly to the embossed watercolor paper instead of adding the ink on the craft paper first, then card like I did with this “Batik” background card.

First I add the lightest color starting the outer card, then second color, then third color. My plan was rainbow color, but my card was too small for it πŸ™‚ The size of my card is 3.5″ x 3.5″

Adding the color directly to the card give me more control of how I want to gradient of the color to go, like here I kindda make like circles inward. Hopefully that makes sense. Or if you like you can make look like diagonal, or horizontal, or vertical. Up to you πŸ™‚

Once it dries completely, add the watercolor background paper on a piece of darker cardstock mat. I used a lot of adhesive at the back to make sure it stick good and also help to straighten the watercolor on the card.

On a piece of velum I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, and then added to the watercolor background. Final step is to add all of them on the card. Again, I covered the whole background of the front panel, just to make sure it stick good πŸ™‚

I love this stamp background! It is very pretty for background stamping from one of the Hostess Reward Stamp sets from Seasonal Expressions Book 2 (April – August 2015). And the sentiment is one of the Thank You set from Seasonal Expressions Book 1 (Dec 2014 – March 2015). Hostess Reward stamp sets are  only can be bought using your Hostess Rewards. Happy Mother’s Day & A Challenge

This week we are celebrating Moms over Stuck On U Sketches challenge blog! Today, I’d love to share with you a project I created for their new Die Cut Challenge this week. The theme is “Mom”, create any projects using diecuts and with the theme.

This time I made a watercolored card with Rose die cuts on it. I cut the Rose Lace Flourish out of White Daisy Cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo. First, I rezied them in 3 sizes and the cut them. After I cut the flowers, I trimmed the leaves off. Then I trace the flowers on a piece of watercolor paper. I started coloring inside the rose circles using Watercolor pencils and blended the colors using aqua brush, then I decided to add some light blue.

I am not patient enough to let the paper dries so I used my Craft Heater to speed it up. Once the paper was dry completely, I added the die cut roses using Tombow mono liquid glue using the fine tip.

The flowers needs something, so I took my Wink of Stella Glitter brush and added some glitter on them. And woalah! Love them! Soft and glittery now πŸ™‚

While waiting for the glitter to completely dry, on a strip of vellum, I stamped the sentiment from Happy To Be Friends stamp set with VersaMark Ink Pad, added someΒ Ranger Princess Gold Embossing powder and heat set it usingΒ Craft Heater. Using a adhesive runner I added the vellum paper on the watercolor paper, and then added them on the card base.

My card is pretty simple and I keep it less bulky.Β I hope you to see you playing with us this week! Link up your project here πŸ™‚

A Card For My Teacher

Today we celebrate a special teacher in our daughter’s life. This year was her first time going to school and she loved every single day at school. Her teacher is her most favorite teacher.

She made a special thank you card for her teacher. I am so thankful for what God has been doing in her life through her teacher.

layout made using Picture Life App

The little sister also wanted to make a card. Of course πŸ™‚ whatever her big sister does, she has to do the same. Here they are with their cards:

I love them so much! One more thing to thank God for – crafty daughters!

Creating Watercolored Background With Dye Ink Pads

Lately I have been having so much fun with watercolor either use watercolor cakes, watercolor pencils, or using dye ink pads.

Today, I would love to share with you a simple steps how to create this watercolor look background using CTMH Exclusive Inks Stamp Pads (dye inks).

It is quite easy to create your own watercolor look background.

  1. Add dye inks on your stamps.
  2. Spray with some water using spray pen from 5-6 inches away from your stamp.
  3. Multiple randomly stamping the flowers and leaves all over your background.
  4. Repeat the first step with different color and shape.

For this flower background, I started with the biggest shape, then fill in the space with smaller ones.

I would recomend you to use watercolor paper, but good thicker cardstocks will work well too. I love CTMH Exclusive cardstocks. They thick and can handle water quite well, also they have so many pretty colors πŸ™‚

I cut a piece banner out of Black cardstock, I stamped and heat embossed the word Thanks from Finding the Words stamp setΒ usingΒ VersaMark Stamp Pad,Β Ranger Super Fine White Embossing powder and Craft Heater.

But before I added the banner on the card, I stamped the second sentiment from the same stamp set with Black Exclusing Inks Stamp Pad.

I finished the first card with some Sequins Gold Assortment.

And this card I link up at:
